We kicked off the long weekend with an adventure to To The Moon Campsite in Tanay, Rizal. We stayed overnight to unwind, and guess what? It turned out to be one of the best trips I’ve ever had!
In this post, I’ll share everything you need to know about getting there, what to expect, and my top tips for making the most of your stay.
Getting there
If you’re commuting, reaching the campsite from Cubao in Quezon City takes about three hours.
Our trip started off fine, but as we arrived in Martessem to catch a tricycle ride, the weather took a turn. The rain began pouring down while we were still in the tricycle, so we decided to wait it out at Tere’s Sari-sari Store.
As soon as it stopped, we began our hike up to the campsite.
But as we hiked down, we were stunned by the breathtaking view of the mountains blanketed in fog. We arrived greeted by foggy mountain scenery and a cold breeze. It was perfect and gave us the reset we craved.
We arrived at around 3:15 in the afternoon. Then, we quickly changed our clothes, unpacked our things and started cooking the food we had brought.
As soon as we got there, it started pouring again. But once the rain let up, the mountain views finally showed up, and they were absolutely beautiful. Aside from that, we explored the campsite and took some photos.
To The Moon Campsite
We woke up early to watch the sunrise and experience the sea of clouds, but it was still too foggy. It was almost noon when the fog finally cleared up.
Maybe our timing was just off this time.
Although we missed the sea of clouds, the overlooking view of the Sierra Madre was breathtakingly beautiful.
Still, I’m hopeful we’ll see it on our next campsite escape.
But honestly, no regrets, because the fantastic views of the foggy mountains made it all worth it. It was indeed a wonderful and relaxing stay!
Cabin Room
We booked a two-person cabin room for Php 3,000 per night for two pax with a balcony. We checked in at 3:00 in the afternoon and checked out tomorrow at 11:00 am.
The view from the balcony is perfect for enjoying the mountains filled with fog while sipping coffee and eating the doughnuts we brought.
The cabin room only uses fans since there’s no air conditioning available. The place has limited electricity and is powered only by solar panels. Since it’s already too cold and freezing, there’s no need for air conditioning.
They provide complete kitchen appliances and utensils you can use and cook for your food. The water is also provided, but you can also bring your own.
It is important to bring everything you need. Especially food and snacks, because there’s no food delivery service there, and you must cook your food.
The friendly and helpful caretakers there can assist you if you need help buying something at the sari-sari store or if you have any other concerns during your stay.

- From Xentro Mall, ride a tricycle going to Cogeo. The fare is Php 150 for two pax.
- From Cogeo, ride a jeep going to Martessem resort. The fare is Php 70.
- Beside Martessem, enter Mayagay 1. You can hire a tricycle and ask the driver for a drop-off at Tere’s Sari-sari Store. The fare is Php 200 for two pax.
- Facing the store, turn left to the rough road leading to the campsite. You can hire a car if you’re not a fan of hiking for about 20-25 minutes. In our case, we just opted to hike.
The road going to the exact location was rough, rocky, and muddy during our visit, so some tourist had to park their vehicles at the Sari-sari store.
