To The Moon Campsite: A Hidden Mountain Campsite Near Metro Manila

A Hidden Mountain Campsite Near Manila You Should Visit

To The Moon Campsite is just 3 hours away from Metro Manila, tucked in the quiet mountains of Tanay, Rizal. Based on my experience, it’s one of those places we’d go back to because it’s peaceful and perfect for relaxing.

One of the reasons we decided to visit this campsite was to experience the Sea of Clouds, since we haven’t been to Sagada yet. Unfortunately, during our stay, the fog was very thick because of the rain. Despite not seeing the sea of clouds, we still had a great stay and were mesmerized by the Sierra Madre mountain view.

They have a net hammock where you can sit and enjoy the view, perfect for photos.

Before you get there, you still need to trek through the hills for about 15–20 minutes. Since it rained when we visited, the trail was muddy and slippery.

The campsite is downhill, so you’ll be walking down a steep mountain. They have cemented stairs, but it’s still quite steep.

But the view makes it worth it because you can clearly see the Sierra Madre. If you love nature, you’ll really enjoy the place.

How to get there?

  • We rode a bus in Cubao (beside National Book Store), going to Cogeo and told the driver to drop us off at Antipolo Xentro Mall. The fare is Php 40 each.
  • From Xentro Mall, we took a tricycle going to Cogeo. The fare is Php 150 for two pax.
  • From Cogeo, we rode a jeep going to Martessem Resort. The fare is Php 70.
  • Beside Martessem Resort, there is a tricycle terminal where you can ride and ask the driver to drop you off at Tere’s Sari-Sari Store. The fare is Php 200 for two pax.
  • From the sari-sari store, the road on the left leads to the campsite. You can hire a car if you’re not a fan of hiking for about 20–25 minutes. In our case, we just opted to hike.

Cabin Stay

The Moon Campsite in Tanay Rizal

We booked a cabin good for two people for Php 3,000 per night. It comes with a balcony. We checked in at 3:00 PM and checked out for the following day at 11:00 AM.

The view from the balcony was beautiful whenever the rain stopped, giving us a clear look at the scenic surroundings. But when the rain poured heavily, the fog quickly became thick.

The cabin only has fans since there is no air conditioning. The kitchen, where you can cook, is just outside the cabin, and the comfort room is within walking distance.

They provide kitchen tools and utensils that you can use for cooking. Water is also available, but you can bring your own if you prefer.

It’s important to bring everything you need, especially food and snacks, since the sari-sari store is about 20 minutes away. If you need anything or assistance, the caretakers are friendly and helpful. They can help you buy items from a nearby sari-sari store or assist you with any concerns during your stay.
